About
I am Paul originally from Hampshire, I met my wife, Yvonne, 25+ years ago and moved to Liverpool. I am a dad of 3 sons; a 6 year old, an 11 year old and a 23 year old. I like messing with computers (Yvonne tells me I am a geek). I like it when things don’t work as they should as it’s interesting to fix things. I like music (rock ‘n roll, 60’s, punk, metal and more). I like telly (sci-fi, horror and drama). I enjoy cycling and walking. I listen to a lot of audio books and audio drama, again mostly sci-fi, horror, fantasy and mystery. It’s a great hobby that makes housework bearable and travelling fun. Reading books is good; mostly sci-fi, horror & fantasy. I like peace and quiet… but rarely experience it.
I've not been up to date with computers or consoles, not since having a SNES in the 90's. But I enjoy computer games. I play retro games and indie games. I seem to have had a different experience with gaming over the years than everyone else. I've always bought different games than everyone talks about. So I decided to write about games from my somewhat unusual point of view.
I've been gaming, on and off, since the 80's. I had a ZX Spectrum followed by a Sega Master System, a Nintendo Gameboy (the monocolour one), next a SNES. Then I got a C64 and a BBC Micro, which were already very out of date when I got them. I also had a "TV Boy" at some point which was an Atari 2600 clone with 127 built-in games. I got a PC after this, which I had for quite a few years past its best before date. We got a PS1, towards the end of their popularity, then a PS2, then a Nintendo DS. We had an original Xbox after the 360 came out, followed by a 360 and a Wii towards the end of their popularity.
I currently have a laptop, which is fairly old, a Raspberry Pi I use for retro gaming, an Atari 2600 mini and a Megadrive mini. A very out of date iPad and a reasonable Android phone. The Wii and 360 are lurking around but I don't use them much now.
I dislike in-app purchases for "consumable" items. I don't mind them to unlock the full game after you've had a chance to play a lite/demo version. I liked the "old days" where you might play a demo of a game and then could choose to buy the full game if you liked it.
